Frank retired as Dr Public Works/City Engineer from Grand Forks ND in 1991. Learned about wood carving while spending a winter in Texas In1994. Came back to G Forks and found a wood carving club and started to learn about wood carving. He soon found out that wood carving is a continual learning experience needing a lot of practice.

He moved to Sioux Falls in 1998. Attended the Sioux Empire Fair that summer and discovered the South Dakota Wood Carvers Club..

He has taught Carving 101 in Grand Forks and continues to teach in Sioux Falls. He now has a class of beginners and professionals at the Center For Active Generations . The class is held every Monday that the CFAG is open .

He has displayed some of his carvings at The Dakota Masters,Center for Western Studies at Augustana ,The Nordlandfest.Sioux Empire Fair,and the annual SDWC show and sale at the Parkridge Galleria.
